Second Chance has contracts for animal control services with the following counties: Bon Homme, Charles Mix, Clay, Douglas, Faulk, Grant, Hamlin, Hanson, Hutchinson, Kingsbury, Lake, Lincoln, Miner, McCook, Moody, Spink, Tripp, Union, Yankton. And the following cities: Brandon, Beresford, Bridgewater, Canastota, Centerville, Chancellor, Colton, Colman, Crooks, Davis, Dolton, Dell Rapids, Garretson, Howard, Hurley, Humboldt, Irene, Lennox, Madison, Montrose, Sioux Falls, St. Lawrence, Tea, Valley City, Viborg, Wakonda, Worthing.

LOST PETS

If You Found a Pet

DO NOT INITIALLY KEEP IT. Keeping a found pet dramatically reduces the chances of the reunion to its family and rightful home.
TAKE IT TO THE APPROPRIATE ANIMAL CARE FACILITY. When finders express interest in a lost pet that they bring in and comply with general adoption policies, they are granted first in line to adopt the pet if it's owners do not come forward.
FINDERS ARE NOT CHARGED TO DROP OFF A STRAY.

If You Lost a Pet

CALL THE ANIMAL SHELTERS in your area and report your pet missing.
VISIT the animal shelter that facilitates the care of strays for your area and bring a labeled photo of your pet to include with your lost report.
CONSIDER distributing fliers to neighborhood grocery store bulletin boards in the area. If you offer a reward do not indicate the amount.
CHECK NEWSPAPER publications for "FOUND" classifieds and keep in mind that the breed description may be mistaken due to lack of knowledge or misprint.
